History

Located in Central Wisconsin, between Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield and Stevens Point, Kickapoo Valley Cheese was founded in 1978 when Arnold Leytus purchased a small dairy and converted the building into a cheese packaging facility. Over the years, the plant has grown through improvements and additions to the buildings and equipment, building up to today’s structure, featuring several production lines, on-site cooler, warehouse and administrative services. Biery Cheese, a fourth generation cheese company, acquired the entire operation is 2014.

Kickapoo Valley continues to be a customer-oriented, nimble provider of custom and private label packaging and services. While the Kickapoo plant specializes in Wisconsin cheeses, it also handles other domestic or imported varieties as well as organic cheeses.

The types of cheeses worked with and the package configurations supported are too much to list here, so contact Biery for a more comprehensive listing. In short, we handle blocks, wheels, rounds, deli-horns, Italian cheeses and other varieties, including rBST free and organic varieties. While the plant’s specialty is custom packaging, we routinely slice cheese into various weights and shingle or stack the slices. Wedges, various shaped chunks and cubes, and reseal-able and/or easy-open options are also available for many configurations.
